Graduates from an Accredited Program 

After completing an accredited program, graduates may apply to write the national licensing examinations administered by the National Alliance for Canadian Optician Regulators (NACOR).
  • Optical Sciences 1 - Eyeglasses Examination is required for registration with COBC.
  • Optical Sciences 2 - Advanced Contact Lenses Examination is only required for applicants who wish to be registered as contact lens fitters.

After passing their examination(s), graduates have three years to apply for registration with COBC.

Steps for registration:
    1. Pass the NACOR examination(s)
    2. Complete all steps in the Supplemental Package for Registration

Note: The National Accreditation Committee of Opticians (NACO) reviews opticianry education programs annually and reassesses their accreditation every six years.
