In December 2018, an election was held for a vacant position on the Board of Directors, for District 5: Contact Lens Fitter.
Registrants voted fellow optician Martin Semaniuk onto the College of Opticians Board of Directors, where he will now serve for a 3-year term, between 2019-2021. The results of the voting were as follows:
Martin Semaniuk 51.3%
Erik Bucaneg 48.7%
